Unique Cars’ own Phil Walker has been caught up the near catastrophe of Qantas flight QF74 from San Francisco. The man behind the fabulous giveaway cars here at UC HQ was right there. In fact, that’s him in the photo listening intently to one of the flight officers as the whole thing unfolded.

It seems one of the outside engines broke a blade and ejected it into the night sky. Sparks, flames and debris could be seen from passenger windows.

Experts say this could have turned into a major disaster very, very easily.

Details are sketchy, but as soon as Phil hits the tarmac here in Oz, we’ll bring you his first hand account.
