"I bought my original old EK for a touch over $3000 about 12 years ago in Bendigo from a car dealer who contacted one of my closest mates who knew I’d struggle to resist buying it – he was right.
"She sat in that same show room for the next 10 years. The dealer was happy to garage it there as it turned out to be the perfect conversation starter. People would say how their grandparents had owned one, or they were conceived in one just like it.
"Having always had old Holdens, I like many young blokes, had always wanted to fit a V8 in one, so the idea of using it as our wedding car finally gave me the opportunity to fulfill that dream.
"With the help of Mick Moorhead, and mates Adrian and Phil, the goodies were assembled. After removing the trusty grey and three speed, we fitted a chassis kit, HR front end with some later discs, and a narrowed BA disc brake rear before the 350 crate motor and Turbo 350 (with 2500 stall converter) were dropped into position. Add an Aussie Desert Cooler radiator, a couple of fans, full re-wire, a really discrete shifter from the US, some steelies and a cheeky line lock and the old girl was pretty much transformed.
"None of this would have happened without Mick’s help as serious time went into the job over a short period. It now gives us plenty of joy and gets a more regular run!"
