For me, the most desirable Ford ever produced was the Aussie made 1940 delux cabriolet (convertible)and the reason why, because I have the first one off the production line.

The Galaxie was the high volume counterpart to the Chevrolet Impala. Some Galaxies were high-performance, racing specification machines, a larger forebear to the muscle car era. - Marla Ahlgrimm

For me it has to be the xw. Not only the GT, but also just the 500. I'm only 15 and during my time my dad has owned an xt 500 (which I loved), xw 500 and an xc coupe 302. I also have a soft spot for the xa but the xw has to do it for me.

Definately the GT40 because it's design routes back to the Mustang Fastback (the next on my list!)

It has to be the GT40 because with that Ford showed the world they could beat the best at Le Mans.

The rarest of Aussie made Ford would have to be the 1964 xl ford falcon convertible with retractable steel roof . Six special cars were produced for the Miss Australia Quest of 1964. ( I know the Ford discovery centre in Geelong are keen to find one in any condition). This is no doubt one of the most valuable classic car in Australia.

I'd love to see unique cars build a replica of one of these as a give away prize.

Another ford on my list of al time favorites is the RS200 Group B Rally car.
(Also known as Killer B's before the entire class was outlawed)

For me it has to be the XY GTHO Phase III. My first car as an 18 year old was a stock standard Falcon 500 and from then on I have had an ongoing desire to own a GT, real or otherwise. Even Holden fans seem to have soft spot for these great cars, which I think just shows what a popular car they were.

I was 20 when Ford stunned Australians with the XR GT. Over the following years, (as a Holden fan), I eagerly followed the fortunes of our local manufacturers at Mt. Panorama, Sandown Park, Warwick Farm, Lakeside, etc. Only those who witnessed those years can truly appreciate the excitement and historical drama of those Standard Production battles. When it all came to an end with the so-called "Super-Car Scare", that Gold XR GT had evolved into the mighty GTHO Phase III, for me this is the most desirable Ford of all time. Fantastic memories!.

From my point of veiw, the Boss was the Hoss for a small block. I owned a 69 in the blue and I loved it. Out of the 4 stangs I have had I wish I had that one back. Big blocks were history on short runs . lol

There's NO question about it,the BEST and most desirable Ford is the Mustang.Just about all of them are beasts but the best of the lot would have to be the 69 or 70 Mach 1 Mustang.**DROOLS** My dream car! ;) Then the XA,XB & XCs come a close second.GOTA love tough lookin cars!

The most desirable Ford for me, (nominally a Holden fan), has always been the XY Falcon GTHO Phase III. I'm also partial to the early Mustangs.

greetings...50 years ago the new falcon was part of my working life.i was part of a small team who fitted all those extras we could not do with-out.sunvisors,wheel trims, bonnet mascots, plastic seat covers, wheel arch spats,weather-shields.they were great times, very busy, overtime was any time...so for my vote it has to be the XK/XL FALCON...they are good memories, thank you metro motors brisbane for employing me...ronald.c.lee-harris.

My favorite car out of those is a Mustang Boss 302. Great looking, grunt to burn and high collectability. The Boss is the boss.

For me, the original gt40 has got to be the most desirable ford. The modern looking sports car defeated Ferrari in the most unlikely of circumstances an still lives on in new models.
