"Stay Australian - Vote Brocky!" What the?

Sir Jack gets my vote. Note only did he win the WDC three times in an era where the cars and the tracks were conspiring to kill you everytime you got behind the wheel, but he did it in HIS OWN CAR!
Brabham won, in a Brabham with an Aussie Repco engine right behind him.
Even the late, great Bruce McLaren did not acheive winning an F1 WDC in a McLaren.
Sir Jack to this day is still highly revered in racing circles in Europe. He gets my vote.

P.S: Where's the Rally drivers on that list?

2 words - STAY AUSTRALIAN!! Thats why my vote goes to the King Of The Mountain - Peter Brock. He has to be one of Australia's top drivers. I am a huge Ford fan, but Brocky was an amazing driver and much loved by all Aussies whether they were Ford or Holden Fans. Peter Brock, Truly A Legend.

Peter Brock gets my vote, & I'm an old Ford man, but Peter Brock was not only a skilled driver but was loved by both the Holden & Ford fans ,he was a real Aussie & along with fellow drivers like Gaghgan,Moffat,Johnson,Richards ect, Brock did a lot for motorsport in Australia & help forge the great Aussie Holden-v-Ford battle which after 40 years is still very much alive today in our V8 Supercars. " Good On Ya Brockie !!"

Juan Manuel Fangio has to be the top of the list having won 5 world championships in the days when cars still had skinny wheels, suspect brakes and a complete lack of safety features. He was a genius!! Bruce (Bathurst)

That's correct,Brabham won both formula 1 and 2 in the same year in cars he helped design. He pushed his Cooper over the line to win his first world title and shocked the Americans by taking it to Indy and although under powered he woke them up to rear engine tech. All these drivers were great but Sir Jack is the man. It's got to be Brabham,..Aussie speedway champ..self made engineer, designer and full lock Grand Prix world champ three times and almost pulled off a couple more. Also in that last title year,1966,he won 10 of the 12 races in formula 2 and won that title as well in a car of his design.Top that! Nuvolari - I saw his racing car in an Italian Auto Museum and was gob-smacked to discovered the race cars of that era had the same top speed as a modern F1 car.

That's in a car with:
- Skinny wheels
- Cross ply tyres,
- Drum brakes,
- Leaf spring suspension
- No safety roll cage ( No safety at all)
- No aerodynamic aids to keep the car on the road

The guys back then weren't just good drivers but daredevils.

Ayrton Senna. When i watched the 1985 Grand Prix in Portugal and saw him win his first race in the wet, that did it for me.He was just brilliant and he left the others for dead. I knew then that this driver was something special, and i was right.

Fangio. Huge speed shown in a great variety of cars. 5 time world champ. Plus he was a gentleman. Unlike some of the more recent multiple champs who have shown a willingness to run competitors off the road. A legend.

Stirling moss gets my vote. He must be the unluckiest driver of all time as well. To be runner up four times must have nearly killed him, but he hung in there, driving all sorts of things along the way.
